Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Develop
   • Build robust, secure, and scalable applications using Java (preferably Java 8+), Spring Boot, and related technologies.
   • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategies, ensuring efficient and maintainable code.
2. Collaborate
   • Work closely with our CTO, cross-functional teams, and US tech startup partner to plan, design, and implement new features.
   • Participate in brainstorming sessions, code reviews, and daily stand-ups, fostering an environment of continuous learning.
3. Optimize & Scale
   • Implement best practices for performance tuning and optimization of high-traffic applications.
   • Ensure reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability in cloud-based or on-premise environments.
4. Maintenance & Improvement
   • Refactor legacy components for improved performance and maintainability.
   • Keep applications up to date with security standards and compliance requirements.
5. Mentorship & Leadership
   • Provide guidance to junior developers, offering support and knowledge-sharing.
   • Lead by example, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and innovation.

Qualifications

1. Experience
   • 5+ years of professional experience in Java development.
   • Proven success in designing and delivering complex, large-scale Java applications.
2. Education
   • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
   • Equivalent practical experience and strong problem-solving abilities can outweigh formal education.
3. Technical Skills
   • Proficiency in Java (Java 8+) and frameworks like Spring Boot or Jakarta EE.
   • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
   • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
   • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and automated testing frameworks.
4. Soft Skills
   • Problem-Solver: Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
   • Team Player: Excellent communication and collaboration in cross-functional settings.
   • Adaptability: Comfortable working in an agile environment with shifting priorities.
   • Leadership: Ability to mentor junior developers and advocate for best practices.
5. Languages
   • Fluent in Norwegian is preferred.
